Good result for the Chelski last night, but not a good advert for the Premiership that they basically had to park the bus!!

Cant wait for the game tonight, got a really good feeling that Arsenal are going to surprise people and win. :oui::w00t:

Man we got away with a one nil from that, lucky lucky us.

Tactically we got it wrong last night, and Fergie was spot on, but we know we can score 2 against you at home, so its about whether Almunia can keep a clean sheet or not now!

If Arshavin was playing it would have been a different game, but I really hope Van Persie is back for next week, he would have done a 100% better job then Diaby last night on the left.

TV's gone off in disgust. Fucking embarrassing way for a team of that level to play - and that's about the only thing that's saved the utterly shit linesman and soft ref from their own level of personal abuse.

Fair play to United, I hope they play Barca in the final and both teams go for it as it started tonight, on balance they deserve to win it.

being a chelski fan i cant believe what happened. that ref definately needs to go to spec savers for sure.

the sending of was harsh way to harsh, but the game should have been over done and dusted in the 1st half if we had got the pens.

i can understand their frustration, they were playing in the biggest game of their lives and they played out of their skin i.e. no shots on target for barca,

i was proper wounded. platini wins again.

I'll say this for one thing - for the ECL they picked two complete morons for refs. Last night's was even worse than Tuesdays, and that was saying something. Utter lunacy.

Chelsea are gonna get a big fat fine (at least) for the behaviour afterwards, but then Hiddink was bang on the money in his interview, they're humans and they have emotions and what a way to get knocked out - you can't really expect them to shrug and then all skip off the pitch holding hands... Drogba's in for a big spank though. :P

Did you write that on your phone, or do u txt spk for funz on ur cmputa?

Wenger never had a chance with Real, any more than any other manager has. Well, you get one chance: The chance to be sacked for not winning every trophy possible. Much more kudos for winning with a footballing side than a money one (difficult argument for the average United fan to understand that one, I grant you :D).

Let's not forget the spending, shall we? The cost of the first teams this weekend:

United £88.05m
Liverpool £89.3m
Chelsea £111.5m
Arsenal £34m

1/2 and 3/4 have gone down to the last 2 games of the season. So. Now who's the better manager?

Wigan should be a decent game. Hopefully the weekend's will be the footballing spectacle that it deserves to be (if Ronaldo isn't crying in his pants about Uncle Fergy making him sit on the naughty step for sulking again...).

(PS, just to clarify, I'm not getting into one, just throwing back what you threw out :D)

LOL dude you cant say Arsenal are shite, we were top for 8 months last season, until money overtook us.

The fact is that we spend £10million on players and Man U and Chelsea spent £30million on players, so we live with the efforts of punching above our weight season after season.

Man U's debts are closing in on £1 Billion!! How can they sustain this? I would be worried that sooner or later the bubble of the Premiership will burst and then where will that leave a team like Man U?

Odd that in a game between Barca and Man Utd, my most pressing moment was when Henry repeated his 'oh my god' moment that cost gooners so much 3 years ago. At least he finished on the winning team this time, and they deserved it by a mile, although kudos to Red Nose for at least throwing caution to the wind and making for an exciting finish. All in all, a decent Final, aside from all the hype that led up to it.

I, as a United fan say we have learnt a great lesson in football, and admits we played poorly after the 1st 10 minutes, the better team won.

Keep the red and white flag high, because united will never die!

You could always sell that flag - it's only been used for 10 minutes! (OK, I recycled an Arsenal joke from the semi-final, but dammit it was the very first thing I thought of when Barca scored!)

In more news from above, we've now signed two 15 year olds, and are now closing in on a 16 year old. Unreported rumours abound that Walcott is being pensioned off and Fabregas given a free cos he's past it at 22 and needs a zimmerframe... :banghead:

Mud
28-05-2009, 12:33 PM
Well we are not going to stop buying youngsters.....but this summer I think there will be 2 25-28 year old players signed too.

Chaos
28-05-2009, 01:10 PM
There will be, but his policy on youngsters is so contradictory. Look at the 2002 Youth Cup winners - only Sidwell made it in the Premiership, and even then not by much.

Fast forward to this year. The youth team ripped everyone apart. So he buys 3 more youngsters plus whoever else he finds this summer. Then, in the next breath, he's justifying not buying Alonso for the senior squad cos he didn't want to 'kill' Diaby or Song or Denilson. Er, hello? Sanchez Watt? Jack Wilshere? Marc Randall?

Ach whatever. Que sera sera and all that. Just frustrates me when someone as clearly brilliant as he is at the highest level makes what I perceive to be fundamental inconsistencies at a basic one. Ho hum..

Mud
28-05-2009, 01:21 PM
I know what your saying mate, but remeber most of the time when he is talking in the media, he is using it to talk to his players, boosting their moral and confidence by saying he does not need to buy etc etc...

The 2002 winning team cant even be compared to the kids that smashed Liverpool this week, of them at least two (Wiltshire, Couleqin) will get into the first team squad IMO next season, and a few others will make good careers in Prem teams.

He knows he needs to strenghen but you cant say that in public against your own team, he is given little money (in comparison to the Man U of this world) and he does the best he can with it. That money is used for transfers and higher wages for new contracts to existing players so there is not alot of cash there for him.

Plus since he started the "relevution" of buying young everyone is now doing it and scouring the world for the 14/15 kids who could be the next best thing, which means even that is alot harder.

From everything I have heard our youth kids, right down to the under 11s are the best we have ever had, so for us hopefully the future is safe, especially with potential rule chances in the offing from prats like Platini.

Chaos
28-05-2009, 03:31 PM
Maybe, but then he's not buying English kids as a rule (1 of the 3 is, and he's potentially the biggest gamble). I hear what you say about him using the media, and that's right, but then I hear a lot without the media too and even if I didn't he's still sending mixed messages; hence the frustration.

Wilshire is close, for sure, but he's not first team yet (especially if Vela can't get a game), and of the others you startt looking at forwards like Rhys Murphy and Sanchez Watt and thinking 'well, we have 5 first team forwards, those two guys score REGULAR and won't get a look in - and now he's buying more forwards....' and wondering what the big plan is..

We'd be stronger if the players who needed to go were shifted on (Adebayor and Eboue to name the two main candidates) and money used for a big purchase or two, but they won't be, and Liverpool/Villa have already priced Alonso/Barry out of the price range. So, you have to start looking at what is left, and it's going to need another miracle of Sagna-esque proportions to pull us back into contention.

Something may happen, it always may, it'd just be nice to get a whiff of them looking in the big league. :)

He knows he needs to strenghen but you cant say that in public against your own team
Well, yeah, you really can. That's what you say when the team drops a season's worth of points before Christmas and it's time to stop being nice and start kicking arse. :P You don't need to name names, but you acknowledge the need. I'll never be one to call for Wenger to move on because the guy is a bloody genius - and even people who hate Arsenal have to admit that - but I had to cringe when he was saying every day that we didn't need anyone and then he bought Arshavin for megabucks and we started playing like twice the team we had been. Kinda went out of his way to prove himself wrong, though I'm bloody glad he did! Was clearly a 'we can't afford to take the chance of the ECL place, let's make sure' and it worked, but it did kinda paint an Epic Fail on his young player plans - albeit next season it'll be a LOT tighter and actually I'd be a bit less nervous if we had to play the same teams with our same team (but we won't, cos there are some big names already talking about moves).

Drogba is staying at Chelski btw. So is Anelka. Ancellotti has said he wants them both.

Milan are prepping a big chequebook spanking for someone right now. Wolfsburg are talking up their man-of-the-moment to try and push the price, but Milan want a big name too. Now theres alot of rumors about Antonio Valencia, Mamadou Sakho, Franck Ribery, Karim Benzema and Huntelaar.. :S

Yup, and those rumours were around before this news went public. The thing is, now everyone can see how naive Manchester United are - or arrogant - or both...

The price of all of those players just doubled in a heartbeat. Any sensible and prudent businessman would have tied bids in with any/all of them and then let the Ronaldo bid go public. But no, despite the fact that he told the club on Monday that he wanted to speak with Real and the two clubs were discussing prices for three days until Real finally got a number that hit the spot, nobody stopped to think "Er, if we're not smart, that €90m is going to be worth half it's face value".

Still, it's what you come to expect from one of the clubs being run on the back of enormous lending and foreign investment I guess. Their neighbours are following the same route, Chelsea have done it for a few years, it's all commonplace now. Makes you wonder how many millions have been wasted from poor business management.

And, with regard to the football, Ronaldo was made into a hero by Ferguson dictating the entire team around him. He has other players that he can do that with, and a good replacement coming through in Fletcher. United won't be that much weaker without him, and IMO they'll be a lot better off without his attitude and his diving. I dont get it, £80 million for Ronaldo, he is 24 now so he has only 6 years left playing the type of football he does.

It doesnt make financial sense, then again this is Real Madrid we are talking about here........

Over those 6 years, they'll make the signing-on fee back in shirt sales and PR alone. That and the 'Galacticos' ethos made it a cert. At least it may mean that they'll STFU about Cesc for 12 months. Maybe.

Presidential election year for Real - guaranteed to be a circus.

isn't there something called a rescission? or does that not apply to the world of football?

They sold their training ground, cleared their debts, then re-financed and freed up €200m for investing into the team.

Wonder what they'll sell next year... :roule:

Here's a thought:

Sell Ronaldo to Real for £80m
Sell Berbaflop back to Spuds for £20m

Buy Newcastle for £100m and give the 11 internationals in the reserve team some proper competition! :roule:

Shame to see Ron go but you could see at end of the season his heart was not with it. I really hope that we use some of the moneyb to buy Tevez now but I doubt he would want to stay.

i take it you referring to David Villa goin to Real?

Is there any truth in the rumor that Frab may end up leaving for Barca if they offer him?

Just seen Inter want Deco and Carv. What a waste, there past it now.

Anyone know where Ribery will end up? I heard that they already had done a deal with Real but i think that was BS

Chaos
15-06-2009, 01:20 PM
There's a lot of BS flying about - well, there was a lot before, there's ridiculous amounts now!

Mourinho has been tapping up Carvalho and Deco for a couple weeks now. More Deco really, Carvalho's agent has been doing most of his publicity. Deco may be allowed to move if Ancellotti wants someone, purely speculating, nothing's concrete yet (or wasn't yesterday morning).

Who's Frab? Or you mean Fab as in Fabregas? Cos he's going nowehere, that you can be certain of..!

The Ribery-Real rumour was done to prompt Utd into a move, but they didn't play, mainly cos the morons at Bayern put a €100m price tag on him IMO (or not morons if they wanted to keep him, I suppose /shrug). May end up being Barca, not Real, who end up hosting that party, but it won't be for a few weeks now I'd have thought as the former are tied up talking to potential targets and the latter are spent out with regard to major names..bar maybe one more striker (winner gets Villa, loser gets Ibrahimovic )

And yes, Villa is the next big move, but he may not be going to Real now there's a fight on and Valencia have seen the bids go up 50% in the last 24 hours... Chequebooks out, ladies!

Edit: Oh yeah, talking of Villa, got a text over lunch, RatFaceChav Bentley passed a medical with Aston Villa this morning.

Chaos
18-06-2009, 12:33 PM
Header last night was quality, some nice passing too. Torres is more consistent for me, too, but Villa is definitely capable.

Looks like he's going to get his move to Madrid, too, after they held on to win the fight. If he moves for 50, that will leave about 40 from the war-chest they had to go after Ribery. Bayern are holding out for silly money, but they'd be insane not to double their bubble on him given that he's only been there 5 minutes...

Current rumours that I had verified last night:

Maicon to Chelsea - negotiations on price underway
Mascherano to Barca - Player has handed in a transfer request but been rejected
Hull chasing Gudjohnsen and Owen - firm offers for both but nothing back yet (usually means agents don't think the player will be interested - and who would, playing for the paedo c*nt that runs that shithole club)
And the big-detail one:
Defour to Everton rejected - Standard Liege reject €10m bid for the rain-man-lookalike, insisting on at least €15m plus international clauses. Everton are considering a better offer. (They paid Standard 18m for Fellaini last year, so the Beligian club will be cash-rich on that little league if they pull off a second deal of that size..!)

Those not happening:
Adebayor to Chelsea for £25m - made up news, sadly

Benny - looks like your first one in is about to happen, Hibernian forward called Fletcher. Just trying to get a confirmed nod. :)

Oddly, there are reports that Alonso may be going to Real for 35m... Benitez parked a high figure on him, but it hasn't put Real off after (as mentioned before) they ran out of cash for Ribery.

Sunderland are arguing over the price of Bent from Spuds. The latter want £18m, which frankly is obscene for a half-decent striker who can't get a game at a no-hope club. Spuds are trying to replace him with Obinna from Inter, who should be surplus after Deco makes his expected move there.

Fulham have put in a bid for Tuncay. Pienaar may be leaving Everton. Birmingham had their ridiculous attempt to sign Vieira from Inter bounced - I guess they'll be trying for David Villa next.. :hehe:

Had a text this morning - it's gone crazy overnight!

City have had an offer accepted for Eto'o, the end-product of an enormous merry-go-round (there's one every year, doesn't usually come off!) that could potentially be the first indicator that David Villa is indeed leaving Valencia. One of the papers has got it this morning too, so props to whoever digs for them, although I didn't have any figures which means they're either making it up or they know a bit more - but they're talking £9.5mpa NET...

And the latest on Benzema is awesome - it may be Arsenal, with a year re-loan built in to the first term. Shove that, Fergie! :yeye: Seriously though, is early days, but it's been discussed, and depends a lot on how far Milan and Inter are going to go with Adonkeyor.

If even half of that comes off, it's gonna mean more big names in the Prem. I wouldn't fancy City's wage bill much, mind....

Oz, my mate's an agent, and although I've got another mate who's a scout, I don't see much off him these days and TBH when I did he had 500 dads all asking the same for their kids..

How old's your nephew? It's hard, and you know if I could wave a wand then I would, but the reality is that something like 99.3% of kids never get past the trial stage. Brutal, and they reckon that as many capable ones get left in the cold as make it. Giving up depends on his age as much as anything else - always worth trying if he's under 11 or 12.

Yeah, seems like they've settled on a fraction less, he's not worth close to Kaka or Divealdo IMO though. Any excuse for Manchester Cashy to sign another name seems to have done the trick for him!

Think the French Connection may prove too much for Fergles to overcome, though he may try to bully them into a £30-35m deadline to try and force it through before Wenger has a chance to sell Adonkeyor and re-route the cash onto Benz. Be interesting to see.

Anyone else see the Van Persie interview in NoTW today? He has a pool table with a picture of him celebrating a goal put into the entire surface of the baize... Not sure I can think of anything more off-putting that playing pool on myself, but even without that it looked heinous! :non:

If Benz does go to Arsenal, Fergie HAS to get in Huntelaar. I rate him a lot as a striker.

Most of the stuff in the media today seems to be summer holiday fiction.

Wow. Yes Oz, if he's 21 then I'm afraid it's almost impossible to get a newbie trial. Wrighty was mid 20s, it's true, but he'd had some trials and he was a phenomenon playing at the level he was when he signed for Palace - and that was almost 20 years ago.

Times have changed drastically in football. These days, if you've left school, you've really very little chance at all of a club taking you on. Everyone wants kids these days at trials - get them early, bring them on, use them or sell them. Even the lower league clubs will want to see playing history at 21.

It's a shame but, that said, there's still good semi-pro clubs out there, so still chance to do a Wrighty and go play lower level then get picked up that way.

In the big news though..:

Got a text off my boy who's in Spain - David Villa was at the Bernabeu today. Make of that what you will.

Real have made the first bid for Benzema, and it's (unsurprisingly) enormous considering the guy's age and experience. Think that, probably quite deliberately, they've priced Arsenal out of it - it's certainly at the ceiling of Wenger's budget even if/when Adonkyor gets sold. They could be trying to test United's resolve with the Ronaldo cash too...or they could just not give a damn and be throwing money at him having conceded defeat in the fight for David Villa.

Dude, United didn't even bid for him.. You have got an international striker visiting you today though, and it's thought there'll be a medical later this afternoon/evening. Looks like a big signing on fee is about to go the way or Mr Michael Owen.. ;)

It'll be a bit busy again for a week or two now for that very reason; 1st July is contract annuation day, so everybody's value always drops and/or free transfers become available. :)

Huntelaar probably won't happen now btw, as it looks like Ruud Van Horselrooy is going to go to Lyon to replace Benzema. Not sure why they didn't p/x, but if he goes then they won't sell Huntelaar..

Burnley are after James McCarthy too, Benny. Not sure what price they'll get to, probably around 1m rising to 2.5ish on apps, but they seem keen to get him and he should prove a very very good investment for the future.

He may well be, he's a proper headfuck this guy and I think Farguson's gambled early to try and save cash if he turns out OK later on. IMO he's a disruptive influence and in this country he'll be in the papers all the time whining and bitching when he doesn't get his way. And you have a young understudy up front anyway who looks like he'll do well and be a better end product than Gigi Rossi (who's still not bad), so I don't get it. In fact watching this, he's scored plenty despite being 22, but the start should make even Adonkeyor feel at home!

The permit was this morning - medicals cost a fair chunk of cash and you don't go arranging them before you've done some free paperwork to check that it's actually worthwhile. ;)

It will be a shame to see Ibra leave Inter, he was one of my fav players at Inter but hopefully Eto can do the damage for us and help us progress in champ league. Inter also signed Lucio aswell which is good.

Dan, any word on weather Carvalhio will end up at Inter also? Him with Lucio at the back would be a good pairing. Dont knw why they sold Maxwell, i rated him quite highly in the team.

Adil - Carvalho deal has gone quiet. Anybody's guess right now, but I'd have thought it possible depending on how much Chelsea want.

Huzi - Arsenal have a first offer agreement. If Blackburn or Sunderland have a bid accepted, Arsenal can match it, hence they don't need to make the first move. ;) However, there's someone else on the radar now - you know, someone Dutch ;)- so Chamakh is on the back-burner (which I suspect is why his agent is playing the media game about other clubs).

And £20m for Huntelaar is probably the going rate in current terms, certainly much more value for money than Eto'o IMO, but that'll be what's priced him out of Wenger's range. :( Can't believe he's even thinking about Stuttgart though, what a massive backward step for a player like him to take..

Correct on all fronts. City are in defence mode this week it seems, speaking with Upson, Toure and Lucas Neill (omg, he may be a free transfer, their heads will explode!).

I have to say that I'd rather we tell them to shove the Toure bid up their pipe, but it's too big to do that I fear and Hangeland could be bought for a fraction of it (which does rather beg the question.......). Eboue could be out this week though (WOOT - BOTH OF THE DEADWOODS GONE :yeye:) and Toure would be perfect at right back..

Hope Mr Owen doesn't crock himself from trying too hard..! Eduardo did quite nicely on his return too - maybe there's some extra-strong magic sponges doing the rounds... :)

Toure medical today at 4pm. £16m more in the coffers but still no signings on the horizon.

Sell Eboue for £5m (or a Mars bar and two fags if not, anything, seriously..), buy Hangeland for £9m and Alonso for £25m - we're still £12m up and with a much stronger team than last year.

Not gonna happen though is it..

Senderos was done last Friday, can't believe it took a week to leak out. Cygan was awesome - no Gus Caesar though! :D We need to off-load Sylvester now and we're almost cock-free - just Epooe to go!! It frees up Lescott though, smart bit of business as he's enormously over-rated and it'll see them at a clear £15m+ profit without going backwards really.

Aquilani will be awesome for Liverpool. Annoyed that they got him really, he'll gel really well with Torres (providing he isn't still sulking about his boyfriend being sold).

Who's next.. Not heard too much as my mate's on hols too (his second attempt after being called back from the first one!), but Bent's paperwork went through last night so that saga's over, oh yeah and KJH is going to Milan after Real finally agreed a price, that one's on next.

I've always had a major issue with strikers who don't like taking penalties, had it when I was coaching and still have it now. Proved to be an expensive lesson for Utd, too. He was on 80k a week at Arsenal, if he hasn't saved any of that then he's a fuckwit either way. But frankly if you live next to a footballer's wife's dog walker then you can get a slot on Sky these days so I never buy into the whole 20-year-career thing any more.
