It's an unmolested 1991 Eunos Roadster (Mazda MX5) V Spec 1.6i Auto with aircon, full leather, headrest speakers and wooden Nardi steering wheel, and has only done 66k km (41k m) - not bad for a 20 year old car.

My brother Pete bought it as a fresh import in 2002, drove it on and off for 18 months then left it garaged. He gave it to my old man last year, and after a service, 4 new tyres and brake discs, and a spot of oil he drove it for a couple of months until he got his 911 TT and it has been under in his garage until last week.

And he wanted the space, so now it's mine!

Great weather for me to pop my convertible cherry (ooer) - it's pretty nippy for a 1.6 and is very comfy - seats are cosy, steering wheel is perfectly situated and nicely weighted - not sure if it's PAS or not, but such a small car it probably doesn't need it.

Does feel a bit weeny compared to the E55 and buses loom over you, but the lack of power isn't really a problem - it's a great car for pottering in the sunshine :)

It's going to get some tender loving care and I'll use it for a month or so and then sell it - I'll have 4 cars on the drive by early next month - oops!

No idea how much it's worth - have seen vaguely similar cars from £995 up to £3295

But here's to more sunshine :clapping:

Oh wow, congrats mate. Perfect time for it! And who cares about power, in a drop top your going to go slow so everybody can see you!

Am LOVING the headrest speakers! Like a blanket of sound!

lovely cheap rear wheel drive fun. im sure a drift school uses mx5's to tutor in because they are so well balanced and as you said the steering wheel is in the correct place.

No mods for this one as I won't be keeping it for long - just a good clean and wax

I think a detail might cost more than the car is worth

Will attack it myself and see how I go - there are a couple of blisters in the paintwork on the PU front end - would be interested to know if they can br corrected without a respray. I'll take some pics and see what people think :)

Finally got the E55 back today after nearly 3 months, and after a spirited drive back from Sussex I parked it up, jumped into the Eunos and drove it all afternoon with the top down

When I got back home, the wife was in the front garden - her first word were 'do you have to sell it? - it's so cute and looks so nice parked by the house with the Mercedes' (Luckily she hadn't noticed I'd just replaced the Goodmans tape deck with a bargain Sony MP3 playing CD headunit)

So I won't be selling it for some time - hurray! Going to restore it instead - mechanically it's fine, but it has a few dings here and there, and a couple of the lights are cracked or misty.

So going to make it original, with maybe some new speakers and a couple of other hidden mods - happy days! :D

Sounds like a plan! And you've got the wifey on side... happy days!

regarding the blisters you could consider wet sanding the front bumper and then using a rotory to bring it back to a pristine shine.

i guess that only applies though if the lauquer is blistering and not the paint underneath.

Oooh - that's interesting Styler - might give that a shot.

I've discovered an industrial unit a mile or so away that has 4 bodyshop / carriageworks in a row, was thinking it might be worth a trip down to each one to get a cash quote for sorting the dings and scrapes. Thinking it might be cheaper than getting a Chipsaway blokey to do it at home?
